Sharps bin testing

Details

SMTL undertakes testing of sharps containers to BS 7320 and the international standard which replaces it, BS EN ISO 23907:2012 (Sharps injury protection - Requirements and test methods - Sharps containers).

The testing undertaken by SMTL includes all of the standard requirements as follows:

  • Container stability
  • Strength of handle
  • Resistance to penetration (needle penetration testing of the container sidewalls)
  • Resistance to damage and leakage after dropping
  • Labelling and marking
