SMTL were invited to the 8th RCSEd All Wales Medical & Dental Student Surgical Research symposium at Margam Orangery in October 2017 to judge poster and oral presentations and to present the SMTL award for best science paper.  The winner was Gargi Pandey for her poster on "A systematic review and meta-analysis on  the effectiveness of Radiofrequency Ablation in patients with low-grade dysplastic Barrett's oesophagus.".  Gargi also won the best overall poster award. The photo shows Pete Phillips, Director of SMTL, handing Gargi her award trophy.

Last month, SMTL hosted  UKAS, the United Kingdom Accreditation Service, for their annual independent inspection of SMTL.

During 2 days of inspections our staff were observed and quizzed over the testing of various medical devices.  This year they brought along a specialist inspector to review our Environmental Testing service, and observed SMTL staff testing the environment in the Princess of Wales HSDU.

The inspectors also reviewed our detailed Quality Management System (QMS) .

The inspection went well, and once again UKAS have recommended that SMTL maintain their accreditation status.

SMTL's latest UKAS accreditation schedule is available for download from  the UKAS website.

ISO have updated their guideline intended for all those involved with the changeover to ISO 80369 connectors.
