SMTL presented it's inaugural Science Award at the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh’s 2nd All Wales Medical Student Research Symposium on Monday 10th October 2011 in Cowbridge.

The Award was presented for the best scientific oral or poster presentation during the day.

The 2011 winner was Nicholas Bullock for his paper on "Monitoring of tissue ischaemia during renal transplantation using rapid-sampling microdialysis: a comparison of organ preservation techniques."
